Given,

Renee can sew a 25 sq.ft of quilt in 16 hours.

Genera fan sew a 25 sq.ft of quilt in 12 hours.

To find,

The amount of time taken by them if they work together.

Solution,

We can easily solve this mathematical problem by using the normal arithmetic method.

Renee can sew,

In 16 hours = 25 sq.ft. of quilt

In 1 hour = 25/16 sq.ft of quilt

Genera can sew,

In 12 hours = 25 sq.ft. of quilt

In 1 hours = 25/12 sq.ft. of quilt

Together they can sew,

In 1 hour = 25/16 + 25/12 = 75+100/48 = 175/48 sq.ft. of quilt

They can sew together,

175/48 sq.ft. of quilt in = 1 hour

1 sq.ft. of quilt in = 48/175 hour

25 sq.ft. of quilt in = 48×25/175 = 6.85 hours

Hence, together they can sew the quilt in approximately 6.85 hours.
