Given-
RENT is the isosceles trapezium specified TN = 15 cm , TR = 7 cm , and the length between parallel sides is 6 cm.
Find-
We have to find the length of RE.
Solution-
Construct RO and EM perpendicular to TN i.e. , EM⊥TN
OT² + OR² = RT² (Using Pythagoras theorem )
OT² = RT² - OR²
OT = √RT² - OR²
OT = √7² - 6²
OT = √49-36
OT = √13
∴ OT is 3.6 cm
As RENT is an isosceles trapezium , OT = MN
∴ MN = 3.6 cm
RE = OM , OM = NT - (OT + MN)
OM = 15 - ( 3.6 + 3.6 )
OM = 15 - 7.2
OM = 7.8 = RE
⇒ RE = 7.8 cm
Therefore, the length of RE is 7.8 cm.
