A meeting to discuss the measures to make the institution environment friendly was held in the President’s office on February 3, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. The President, the Principal, the coordinators, and the bursar attended the meeting. Keeping in mind the deteriorating environment and effects of pollution, and the new directives issued by the Environment Ministry to be immediately implemented by all educational institutions the following decisions were taken:

1. A budget of rupees 75 lakhs was approved by the President for making the institution environment friendly.

2. It was decided that the school would immediately install solar power generation plant to generate electricity for its own consumption.

3. It was decided that the school would purchase 5 new CNG buses for reducing emission of harmful gases in the city’s environment.

4. It was decided that the school will plant 5000 saplings along the campus boundary and in the surrounding areas.

5. It was also decided that in the near future the school would provide teaching and learning tabs to its students and teachers to minimize paper wastage. It was decided to make the school website more active and interactive.

6.  The proposal of installing wastage treatment plant for school sewage was also accepted by the President.

7. June 2, 2017 was kept as completion deadline.

All the members attending the meeting unanimously supported and agreed to the measures and decisions taken at the meeting.

Explanation:

In hydroelectric plants, no air pollution occurs due to the combustion of fuel thus making the hydroelectric power plants environment friendly. However, it has an adverse effect on living creatures in the river and causes water pollution due to issues like forced migration of large community, submerging of forest and fertile land, etc., thus proving it to be non-eco-friendly.

It has always been a point of debate whether the hydroelectricity is environment friendly or not.
