The birth anniversary of first Prime Minister of India, Jawahar lal Nehru was celebrated as Children's day in the schools and educational institutes of the state on Tuesday. Education Minister Arvind Pandey celebrated the day by spending considerable time with the primary and upper primary students of the Government School in Rajiv Nagar in Dehradun.
The minister offered floral tribute to Pandit Nehru. The students later showed their skills in a cultural programme. Addressing students, Pandey said that one should never forget his/ her past after completing studies and everyone should do something for the society. On the complaint of the parents and teachers the minister directed the officers of Power Corporation to shift the high tension line passing above the school. The minister presented cricket kit to the students and also gave some books for the school library.
Pine Hall School
In Pine Hall School 'Annual Fete' was organised to celebrate Children's Day. The Director of the school Anurag Anand cut the ribbon to mark the opening of the function. There was a special spark in the fete as the school is celebrating its Golden Jubilee this year.
The activities 'Swing and Trampoline' and 'Feeding the Joker' kept the students entertained. The fete included exciting games like Shooting, Hoopla, Building Pyramid, Breaking Pyramid, lucky Chit, Arranging the Chess Board and many more. The live music by the school band enthralled the students.
Tula's International School
The children's day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Tula's International School. Teachers of the school entertained the students by performing songs, dance and stand up comedy act. The program started with a speech by Hindi teacher Rakhi Grewal. Atul presented a soulful song while Santosh Joshi performed on the song Billie Jean. Speaking on the occasion, the Principal of the school, Shalini Sharma wished the students a happy children's day and motivated to follow the footsteps of Pandit Nehru.
Summer Valley School
The Summer Valley School also celebrated Children's Day in the campus.The day began with a speech by the Head of Department English, Amrita Gambhir. The students enjoyed Garhwali folk presented by teachers Pooja Dangwal, Manju Rautela, Sakshi Sati, Meena Bisht, Sangeeta Gairola, Poonam Pasbola, Deepali Sharma and Indu Dhyani.
Another attraction was Sufi Kawali (lal Merey Par Rakhiyo Sang) by the school teachers Rashmi, Sunita , Aditi, Charu , Sangeeta, Reshu, Monika, Shivani, Ruchi, Vikas, Dinesh and Reena. The Director Summer Valley School, Ashok Wasu presented a song which drew loud applause from the audience.
