The Mayor was present at the ceremony which was held in a small pandal erected for the purpose .
Mr. Sachin Tendulkar, the well – known Cricketer , donated the saplings and the protective steel cages to be placed around the saplings .
The Mayor expressed his delight at the enthusiasm of the young scientists for the environment
. Our beloved Principal also spoke a few words .
Then the students set about digging pits at intervals of 50 feet .
16 saplings were planted in all , on either side of the road .
The President of the Science Club then spoke , solemnly promising to supervise , with his team , the maintenance of the trees as they grew . Since it was a holiday many students from the neighbouring schools were also present .

AN School, 12th January: Renaissance is a common word that means 'rebirth'. Have you heard of 'Greeneissance'. In case you haven't, the Science Club of our school has coined it.
It means 'giving birth to greenery'. Plants are fast disappearing from this planet owing to the avarice of Man. So on the National Youth Day we at the Science Club wanted to gift the youth greenery.
A tree plantation program was organized in our school. Every class was given five trees to plant. Each class had to look after its tree.
The city Mayor was invited to grace the occasion. He was gifted a sapling to plant in his office ground. Our Principal too planted a Banyan sapling at the side of the playground.
All in wall it was a very successful event and all of us at the Science Club thoroughly enjoyed it.
