NEW DELHI: A businessman's house in Surajmal Vihar of east Delhi was robbed in broad daylight on Tuesday afternoon. Unidentified masked men in black clothes ransacked the ground floor after tying up Navin Jain's daughter, Aditi, who is set to get married in the first week of February, police said. The worth of valuablesrobbed is not known yet but sources said cash and jewellery worth lakhs have gone missing.
Relatives and family members said there were three floors in the B Block house. The ground and first floors of the house belongs to Navin while his brother Umesh Jain owns the second floor. Navin owns a business of paper printing in Chhawri Bazar near Chandni Chowk and lives with his wife, son Vivek (25) and daughter Aditi (22).

The police and relatives said the family had been busy shopping for Aditi's wedding. On Tuesday morning, around 10-10.30am, everybody in the family but for Aditi went to Chhawri Bazar.

"Around 2pm, Aditi, who lives on the first floor, came downstairs to have lunch. She went to the kitchen and noticed that the light in her father's room was on and some noise was coming out of it. She went to the room and was pulled inside by a person. The assailants tied her hands with a dupatta and threatened her to keep quiet. The assailants then ransacked the house. After putting the valuables in a gunny bag, they cut the grille of the back gate and fled," said a senior police officer. On returning, the family members informed the cops. "We highly suspect that an insider or at least someone known to family have played a role as none of the assailants has got captured on the CCTV cameras installed in the house and outside. The assailants knew the exact time to attack and struck when only Aditi was at home," said a police source.
