Answer:
Heavy or very heavy rains are likely in parts of south Gujarat, north Gujarat and Saurashtra for next four days, the weather department said in a statement. It has warned fishermen in south Gujarat and along the coast of Saurashtra not to venture into the sea for next few days. Meanwhile, widespread rains will continue across the state.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that heavy to very heavy rains are very likely at isolated places with isolated extremely heavy falls in Banaskantha and Valsad. Heavy to very heavy rains are very likely at isolated places in Sabarkantha, Mehsana, Patan, Surat, Navsari, Dang, Tapi as well as Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli, almost throughout the week.
It said that there are three rain-bearing systems active on and around Gujarat, which are bringing these rains to the state. These include a cyclonic circulation over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining east Rajasthan, which has now shifted towards south Rajasthan and neighbouring areas. It is moving southwestwards. Another system is in form of a trough extending from central and west Rajasthan to northwest Bay of Bengal is now covering areas from south Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, north Chhattisgarh, and Odisha. It is moving southwards. The other system passes through parts of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha and is shifting southeastwards, said IMD.
Under the impact of all the systems, while some parts will receive heavy rains, widespread rains are likely across the state. "Light to moderate rains or thundershowers are very likely at most places in the state, including the Kutch district," said IMD in its forecast. Moreover, this trend will continue throughout the week until Saturday. "Extremely heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in Banaskantha in north Gujarat, while heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred in Surat, Dangs, and Valsad. Rainfall occurred at most places in Gujarat," said a forecast of IMD.
