Answer:

One of the basic reasons why reading is important is that it helps you grow mentally, emotionally and psychologically. Every book gives you an opportunity to learn new things and explore new ideas. Reading books increases your knowledge and makes you smarter.

Increased Imagination. When watching a movie there isn’t much imagination going into play. But when reading a book……. oh boy, you imagine the setting, the plot, the motives of a charachter, you’re searching for references and clues. In a movie it’s much more played out and the it’s more easy to anticipate the plot.

Less Stress. Grabbing The Old Man and The Sea and a coffee (try Lavazza best Italian coffee ever) while sitting in your garden, balcony or local park, oh goodness! Add to that the occasional gaze into nature, ahhhh! It feels a bit like meditation because you’re fully concentrated on one point and everything else perishes.

Increased Wit and Vocabulary. It enhances the funny comebacks and your ability to join a conversation. I have found tremendous benefits in my ability to connect with people which I correlate to my increase in reading.
