Green Park Celebrated Lohri Festival
Lohri was celebrated at Green Park with a lot of exuberance and fanfare on January 13, 2019. The mood at the colony was upbeat and the residents were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri. The function started with speeches in English and Punjabi highlighting the importance of the festival of Lohri, which ushers in the cheerful spring season bidding adieu to the bone-chilling winter.
A kite-flying competition was also organised, which was throughly enjoyed by the residents. Mr. D.P. Sharma, the President also flew kites and enjoyed the day. At night a huge bonfire was lit around which all the residents sat, sang songs and danced.
Explanation:
During this April, the Makar Sankranti and then the lohri was celebrated with great pomp and show by all the members of our state. It was the governor's idea and some local cultural organizations that worked day and night and the successful celebration of the lohri was possible only because of them. It was also the food and cloth distribution to people who are from low backgrounds that worked in favour of the people who could celebrate lohri only because of these groups.
