Sarva Shikha Abhiyan for van Mahotsav is described as the cultural and social advancement that is done to educate the people of a nation about the importance of forest and greenery.
This initiative was taken in 1950 by Dr K M Munshi the former Union Minister for Agriculture.
It is usually celebrated in the first week of July to encourage the younger generation to plant more trees and establish a better environment to live in.
