Answer:

India celebrates National Youth Day annually on the 12th of August. The celebration of the day has originated from the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. The National Youth Day has a strong reason for celebration. The entire event revolves around the birth and teachings of Swami Vivekananda. We should have a glimpse of the background of the occasion.

Swami Vivekananda had born in West Bengal on 12th January 1863. He was one of his nine siblings and was devoted to spirituality. He was a desiring reader of many subjects, and it was like an advantage for him. Narendra graduated from a Christian College. His principle William Hastie used to call him 'a genius'. Later, Narendra became a member of 'Brahma Samaj' founded by Raja Ram Mohan Roy. Soon, Narendra came under the asylum of Swami Ramakrishna Paramhans to focus on spirituality.

Vivekananda spent five years of his life traveling in India. He traveled to every corner of India as a monk and was dependent on the alms. Narendra had also visited foreign countries for seven years. His entire journey, either in India or outside, had the objective of spreading his teachings and philosophies. Swami Vivekananda died on 4th July 1902 before attaining the age of 40 years.

Swami Vivekananda had an inspirational personality, and his teachings are enough to motivate us. The Government of India declared 12th January as the 'National Youth Day' in 1984, and we have been celebrating it since 1985. It is a day of pride.
