Answer:

It was a red letter day in the history of India when the country got her freedom on August 15, 1947. It took hundreds of years for us to break shackles of slavery. People of the country celebrate this festival every year with great pomp and show. The main Programme is celebrated at the Red Fort in New Delhi. Besides, this festival is also celebrated in every city and town, in school, college and university.

Our school also celebrates this festival every year. For this year, we had made all the preparations. In the morning NCC cadets of our school marched out in a procession through the main streets of the town with a band playing the National Song ( Vande Matram ).

For 2018 Celebration Fact - The day is Wednesday

From 7:30 pm to 11:00 pm, approximately 2500 lamps will illuminate the Red Fort. The cost of this illumination will be around Rs 3 Crore for covering the length around 1.3 km.

The Principal was the Chief Guest of the Programme. She hoisted the national flag on the school building sharp at 8:00 am. All the students and teachers saluted the flag and then sang the National Anthem with nobody moved honoring it. Then followed the Cultural Programme. A report based on the speech is:

Good Morning everyone!

  • Every year on the 15th of August, Independence Day is celebrated as a national holiday in India as people commemorate the longest phase of our nation's liberation under the British rule.
  • On August 15, 1947, India gained independence after a series of movements in which several freedom fighters laid down their lives.
  • After independence, on 15 August 1947, Jawaharlal Nehru became the first Indian Prime Minister to raise the national flag at Red Fort near the Delhi Lahore Gate.
  • By unveiling the National Flag and singing the National Anthem, students, teachers, parents and other people come together to celebrate Independence Day.
  • The Prime Minister of India in the national capital of New Delhi, Red Fort, is also waving our national flag.
  • Afterwards, the award is presented by shooting 21 guns and a helicopter showering three-color flowers on the flag.
  • The colors in our river represent different things; saffron means courage and sacrifice, white means peace and truth, green symbolizes faith and meekness.
  • At the center of our flag, there is an Ashok chakra consisting of 24 parallel spikes.
  • We remember the great dedication of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Raj Guru, Gandhiji and other brave freedom fighters on this special day for their unforgettable contribution to the liberation of India.
