                                       Report on Sarswati Puja

Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge, wisdom, arts, aesthetics, literature, music, and sciences in Indian culture. She is equivalent to nine muses that were considered source of inspiration in Greek and Roman cultures. In India, Sarswati is worshipped for inspiration to do well in the above mentioned spheres. Every educational institute and organization associated with education celebrates and observes Sarswati Pooja on Basant Panchami.

Keeping the tradition alive, our school celebrated Basant Panchami with cultural fervor on February 1, 2017. Basant Panchmi is an occasion which also marks the onset of the ‘Spring Season’. It is also celebrated to worship Goddess Saraswati, the symbol of knowledge and wisdom. Mr. O.P. Sharma, the Chairman, Mrs. Leena Sharma, the Director, and the Mrs. Rashima Bhatia, the Principal paid floral obeisance to the idol of goddess Saraswati.

To mark the occasion, the tiny tots of the Kindergarten came attired in yellow clothes. They offered yellow coloured flowers to the Goddess and also brought yellow coloured snacks to share with each other.

Beautiful pieces of Art related to Basant Panchmi were decorated on the boards. A floral rangoli with yellow and orange coloured flowers signified the brilliance of nature and the vibrancy of life.

A special assembly was held on this day. It started with the children and teachers singing the ‘Saraswati Vandana’. This was followed by a presentation on the various aspects of the festival.

On the auspicious day of Saraswati Puja, the students and faculty of School of management, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, came together to seek the blessings of the goddess of knowledge, music, art and culture.

The ritual was graced with the presence of Dr. Raveendranath Nayak, Director School of Management, Mr. Sandeep Shenoy, HOD Department of Commerce, and all the teaching faculties and students.

Be it any cultural event Christmas, Saraswati Puja or Onam, School of Management has been celebrating different festivals with the same fervor. Believers as well as non-believers, all came together under one roof to celebrate these festivals. Saraswati Puja is just another attempt by the students and staff to preserve the Indian culture and to impart a sense of respect towards long-established traditions. These celebrations ensure that students find a home away from home. Both the faculty and students joined hands together, with great zeal to make the event a memorable one also evoking the blessing of the goddess of knowledge to have a successful academic and carrier growth. The rituals were conducted by Shri Rushikesh Aithal, who not only performed the Pooja but also enlightened on the concept of worshiping Goddess of knowledge, ending the event by serving prasad to everyone present.
