Sri Bal Mukundji is a well known physics teacher in Ujala Vidyalaya. He has served the institution for more than 40 years. He is an avid speaker and inspires students with his talks. On Wednesday our teacher told us that the next day there will be a farewell function for Sri Bal Mukundji. He was going to retire from service. She told us about his work and achievements, and the contributions he had made to the school and student community. We were very impressed.

It was a very special day for all of us. We were all very excited. Most of us reached school an hour before the usual time. Everywhere students were seen talking excitedly about him. It was 9 am and we all stood in a line on both sides of the pathway leading to the lecture hall. There was pin drop silence.

The Principal and some teachers went ahead and welcomed Sri Bal Mukund ji. He is a tall man and has a great personality. His face radiates compassion and kindness.

When he started speaking, we became so engrossed in his speech that we did not realize that more than an hour had passed and it was time for him to go. The Principal gave him a big gift on behalf of the school. We were very sad to say goodbye to him.

Even after he left we sat quietly and were in deep thought. It was only after the bell rang for break that we came back to normal. We started discussing about the wonderful things he had told us. We were inspired by the ideals of simple living and high thinking. We decided to help the poor children in our neighbourhoods and serve the society in small possible ways.
