An inter school rangoli competition was going to be held in the Public School on the occasion of teacher's day. Actually every year on teacher's day there is an inter school competition in some school or the other. It can be an elocution, debate, music, dance, essay writing or rangoli competition.

A preliminary rangoli making test was held in each school. Those who passed in it were chosen to represent their school in the competition. The students started preparing a week in advance. They went to the library and collected designs for their contest. They also asked their mothers and aunties to give them some nice ideas for the same.

Every morning they used to get up early and make ragolis outside their houses. They all practised their designs. The morning air helped them to think better and they would get a lot of new ideas.

On the day of the competition they were fully prepared and confident. They reached the venue 15 minutes early, so that they could settle down properly and be ready to draw their rangolis with a composed mind.

There was a lot of excitement. Each one was eager to do her best. The bell rang. The students went and sat in the hall in the respective places allotted to them. The teacher came and wished them good luck.  There was pin drop silence. Each one started making their rangoli. Time just flew. The bell rang and it was time to leave the hall.

The results were to be announced the next day. The students eagerly waited for them. Next day the principal announced the results.

The student who won the first prize, which is a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 donated it to the orphanage near her school. She said that "We go there often to do social work. It is my greatest pleasure to offer the money for their welfare."
