  • Draw a line segment of 9.5 cm,mark it as AB.
  • Now extend AB 1 cm more mark that last point as C.
  • Now take half of the 10.5 cm mark that point O.
  • Take O as center and draw a semicircle from A to C.
  • From B draw a perpendicular that intersect semicircle at point D.
  • Now BD is the value of √9.5, take compass on B open up to D and make an arc on number line,mark it E.
  • BD= BE= √9.5
  • Now extend the point D 1 cm upward,mark it N , open compass from B to N draw an arc on number line,that point V.so the length of BV=1+√9.5.
