1) On a straight line mark A and B such that AB=yx.

2) Mark point C 1 unit away from B(BC=1 unit)

3) Draw the ⊥ bisector of AC, mark the pt of intersection as O

4) Taking O as centre and OC as radius draw a semicircle.

5) Draw perpendicular from B and mark its pt of intersection with semicircle as D

6) Now BD=yx

7) Taking B as centre and BD=yx as radius construct an arc to make it intersect at E on the line.

8) BE=yx

9) Start the number line from B
