To represent 4/3 on the real line follow the steps given below.  We follow a procedure to do the trisection of a given line.

1. Draw a horizontal line. AB of length 4 units.
2. Extend it on both sides. Let us call it  XABF.
3. From A mark C at 6 units and D at 12 units. This can be done by available geometrical instruments. Or we can follow construction techniques too, like arcs and circles.

4. With C as the center and radius = AC = CD, draw a circle.
5. With A as the center and AB = radius draw a circle to intersect the other circle at G.
6. Draw a perpendicular from G onto AB to intersect it at M.
7. AM will be equal to 4/3 or AB/3.
