Answer:

To express 4.2 on number line steps:

Consider a line segment AB on number line where AB=4.2, take a point C next to B such that BC = 1 unit. Consider midpoint of AC as center O. Now with radius OC draw a semi-circle. Draw a straight line from B onto the semicircle to cut it at D.

STEPS:

STEP 1 - Given √x = 4.3

STEP 2 - Mark Point A on the Number Line.

STEP 3 - Mark Point B on the Number Line such that x = 4.3 units.

STEP 4 - From Point B, Mark a new Point C at a Distance of one Unit.

STEP 5 - Find the Midpoint of AC and Mark it as Point O. (Using Compass, construct Perpendicular Bisector to cut the Straight Line into two Equal Parts)

STEP 6 - Draw a Semi-Circle with Radius OA and Radius OC = OA = OD

STEP 7 - Draw a Perpendicular to AC passing through B and Intersecting the Semi-Circle at D.

Length of BD = √x = √4.3

STEP 8 - Taking B as the Centre, and BD as Radius, draw an arc cutting OC produced at E.

Therefore, Point E represents √4.3 on the Number Line.
