make a line taking 2 cm gape on the line mark 0 , 1 ,2 , draw a straight line from point 2 on the line marks 2 cm then from point 0 draw a line slant to the point where we make 2 cm with help of compass make a arc from point of 2 cm at the marks there as root 5

Hypotenuse² = Base² + Height ²

=> AB² + BC²= CA²

=> 2² + 1²= CA²

=> CA² = 5

=> CA² = √5

Thus, √5 is represented on a number line as shown in the figure.
