The steps of making root 4.7 on a no. line :

1. Draw a line named 'AB ' with measure 4.7unit.

2. From B Add 1 cm and mark as 'C '

3. take the half of 'AC ' and mark it 'O '( means Bisect A and C and mark mid point as O)

4. take the measure of 'AO ' as radius and with 'O ' as centre draw a semi circle.( means In a semicircle O is a mid point considered as a radius)

5. And from 'B ' draw a line perpendicular to AB, touching the semi circle at D,( means from B draw a perpendicular line which meets on Semicircle at D) and mark that point as root 4.7.

6. Take compass pointer on B and the pencil point on D and then draw an arc on no. line

7. Hence mark on no. line as root 4.7

hope it helps
