First plot root 2 by taking a number line where the gap between 1 and 2 and so on is 1 cm now draw a line from 1 cm perpendicular to the number line of 1cm the hypotenuse you get is root 2 now from this hypotenuse draw a line perpendicular to hypotenuse of 2 cm so now the hypotenuse of this new right angled triangle with perpendicular 2 cm and base root 2 cm will have a hypotenuse of root 6 cm.
Proof :
2^ 2 + root 2 ^ 2 = 6
Square root of 6. (By pythagoras theorem)
You require a compass scale and protractor for this
