represent root 9.5 on number line

√9.5 = √9 + 0.5 =
Mark A representing 3 on number line .
construct AB perpendicular to OA .
With OB as radius and O as centre draw an arc intersecting number line at C .
C is represented as √(9.5).

sriuma: from where did u get .5 we had only marked 3 so it should be root 9
