2. Draw OB ⊥ OC such that OB = 1 unit and OC = 4 units

3. ΔOBC is a Right angled triangle

4. In Right angled Δ OBC

Using Pythagoras theorem

⇒ BC² = OB² + OC²

⇒ BC² = 1² + 4²

⇒ BC² = 1 + 16

⇒ BC² = 17

⇒ BC = √17

5. Measure BC using compass and now with O as center and BC as radius draw an arc intersecting the number line at T such that OT = √17 units.
