2. Consider a unit square OABC.

3. By Pythagoras theorem, OB = \sqrt{ 1^{2} +1^{2}} =\sqrt{2}

4. With O as a center and OB as radius, draw an arc intersecting a number

   line at P.

5. P corresponds \sqrt{2} .
