Q.NO 4:-

Let the Speed of Train be = Vkm/hr

Let The time taken by train to cover the Distance of 900km be = t

Speed = Distance / Time

V = 900km / t .... Equation i

Decrease in speed = ( V - 10 )km/hr

Time Taken = 4½ = 4 +1/2 = 9/2 hour

According to the Question!!

( V - 10 ) = 900 / ( t + 9/2 )

( V - 10 ) = 1800/(2t + 9) ... Equation ii

Now, Put value of t in Equation ii we have

(V - 10) = 1800/( {2×900/v} + 9 )

(V - 10) = (1800v)/( 1800 + 9V )

(V - 10) × (1800 + 9V) = 1800V

1800V + 9V² - 18000 - 90V = 1800V

9V² - 90V - 18000 = 0

- 10V - 2000 = 0

Therefore, Required Quadratic Equation is

- 10V - 2000 = 0

Where, V is speed of train.

Q.No:-5

Let is ist part of 31 be x

Then it's Second would be ( 31 - x )

According to the Question!!

+ (31 - x)² = 481

+ 961 + - 62x = 481

2x² - 62x + 961 - 481 = 0

2x² - 62x + 480 = 0

2 { - 31x + 240 } = 0

- 31x + 240 = 0

Therefore, Required Quadratic Equation is

- 31x + 240 = 0
