Reproduction - It is a process by which a living organism is able to produce more of it own kind. The ability to reproduce i.e. to produce a generation of individuals of the same species , is one of the essential characteristics of living beings.

Types of Reproduction :-

Asexual reproduction - Reproduction in which only one parent is involved and no formation and fusion of gametes occur Since no meiosis takes place springs are exact copy of their parents and since new individuals are formed from the somatic part of the organism.

Sexual reproduction - type of reproduction in which two parents are involved. It involves formation of haploid gametes by the process of meiosis the fusion of gametes occur. since meiosis is involved. Offsprings are genetically not like their parent.
