In human beings and almost all mammals reproduction systems in males and females different with different organs performing specific functions. Like plants, the reproductive parts in animals also produce gametes that fuse to form a zygote. It is the zygote that develons into a new individual. This type of reproduction beginning from the fusion of male and female gametes is called sexual reproduction.

In males, the reproductive organs are a pair of testes (singular testis). They are located outside the abdominal cavity in a sac called scrotal sac. The testes produce the male gametes or sperms in millions. Each sperm is a single cell with all the usual cell components Each sperm has a head, a middle piece and a tail. The sperms leave each testis through a sperm duct (or vas deferens). As the sperms move through sperm ducts, fluids from three glands pour their secretions into the ducts. The mixture of fluids sperms called semen. The sperms swim in it pun reach the urethra which inside the penis. The penis is the organ that transfers sperms into the vagina of the female's body.

The female reproductive organs are a pair of Ovaries, the oviduct (fallopian tubes) and the uterus. These are located in the lower part of a abdomen. The ovaries produce the ovum lalural ova) or the egg when a female reaches ouberty (at the age of 10-15 years). Usually an Ovum is released from one of the ovaries every month. The ovum is also a single cell. The ovum passes into the oviduct.
