Putting this simple; reproduction has no additive value to the life of an individual but it is through reproduction that a species are propagated. Without reproduction an individual will still live his/her life while the stability and propagation of the species of this individual depends on them reproducing.

Answer:

Living organisms perform essential life processes like nutrition ,respiration and excretion for their survival. Reproduction is not essential for the survival of an organism . It is, however necessary for the continuity of a species . It brings variations by DNA copying required for the survival of the population of a species. It replaces old organisms with new organisms so that their number remains balanced .
