Lithosphere is the outer layer of a planet. For our planet Earth, lithosphere is composed of crust and mantle.
Two main elements found in the lithosphere are Silicon and Oxygen.
• Silicon is used as a semi-conductor in electronic industries.
• Oxygen is the life saving element that aids breathing of living things.
Two main compounds found in Earth’s crust are Silicon Oxide and Magnesium oxide.
• Silicon dioxide is used in preparation of cement and glass.
• Magnesium oxide is used for medicinal purposes as magnesium supplement for healthy bones and muscles and also to cure indigestion. It is also used as drying agent by mountain climbers to reduce moisture in their hands.
