Main Answer

Currently Father = 60 and Son = 20

Explanation

Currently

Let son's age = x then Father's age = 3x

After ten Years

Son's age = x+10

Father's age =3x+10

also given

3x+10= 2{(x+10)+10}

3x = 2x + 20 + 10

x = 20 + 10 - 10

x = 20

therefore current

son = 20 and

father =60

EXPLANATION.

Present age of the father is 3 more than three times his son's age.

Let the age of father be = x.

Let the age of son be = y.

⇒ x = 3(y + 3).

⇒ x = 3y + 3. - - - - - (1).

After 10 years father will be 10 more than twice his son's age.

Father age be = x + 10.

Son's age be = y + 10.

⇒ x + 10 = 2(y + 10) + 10.

⇒ x + 10 = 2y + 20 + 10.

⇒ x + 10 = 2y + 30.

⇒ x + 10 - 2y - 30 = 0.

⇒ x - 2y - 20 = 0. - - - - - (2).

From equation (1) & (2), we get.

Put the value of equation (1) in equation (2), we get.

⇒ (3y + 3) - 2y - 20 = 0.

⇒ 3y + 3 - 2y - 20 = 0.

⇒ y - 17 = 0.

⇒ y = 17.

Put the value of y = 17 in equation (1), we get.

⇒ x = 3y + 3.

⇒ x = 3(17) + 3.

⇒ x = 51 + 3.

⇒ x = 54.

Present age of father be = x = 54 years.

Present age of son be = y = 17 years.
