Explanation:Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. Reservation in jobs and in education for backward members of the society is indeed justified in a country like India, which is a vibrant democracy.

For centuries, the lower castes and the tribes of India have faced social discrimination. This has led to economic deprivation and continued backwardness. In order to correct this wrong and make our society truly egalitarian, the only recourse for our policymakers is to reserve jobs and seats in educational institutions for our less privileged brethren. Only by continuing with these measures can we ensure that the dream of the founding fathers of our nation is transformed into reality.

The caste system in India has been the single biggest drawback for our country, similar to that in countries which have practised racial discrimination. Take for example, South Africa and Rhodesia, now known as Zimbabwe, where the majority black population was for long suppressed by the minority whites. They have truly been unshackled once the discriminatory mechanism was dispensed with and the people live as one ever since. India must go ahead with reservations, so that the social barriers created by the upper castes is removed and we are able to live in a country which truly becomes one of equal opportunity for all.
