The Reserve Bank of India is only a bank which mints and prints coins and rupee notes. It is responsible for circulation of money within India if more money is present in the market the value of the rupee will fall. This is the major role of RBI and the public can't deposit money here than can do so in banks like: HDFC, Axis, Indian, ICICI etc.
