Answer:

Let he purchased n oranges of each type , thus total number of oranges = n+n=2n.

C.P of n oranges of 1st type is Rs n/7. and n oranges of 2nd type is Rs.n/9.

C.P of 2n oranges = Rs.(n/7+n/9) = Rs.16n/63.

S.P.of 2n oranges = Rs.2n/8.

Loss = C.P - S.P. = Rs.(16n/63 - n/4) = Rs.n/252.

Loss percent = (n/252)×100/(16n/63).%

= (n×100×63)/(252×16n) = 25/16.% = 1.5625%. Answer
