Given :

Three resistors are connected as shown in the figure.

To Find :

Reading of ammeter and voltmeter.

Solution :

❖ In order to find reading of ammeter, we need to calculate equivalent resistance of the circuit first.

» Here all three resistances are connected in series hence their equivalent resistance will be

➙ R = R₁ + R₂ + R₃

➙ R = 6 + 8 + 12

R = 26 Ω

Net current flow in the circuit :

As per ohm's law, current flow in the circuit is directly proportional to the applied potential difference.

Mathematically, V = I × R

  • V denotes voltage
  • I denotes current
  • R denotes resistance

By substituting the given values;

➙ 6 = I × 26

➙ I = 6/26

I = 0.23 A

Reading of ammeter is 0.23A

Reading of voltmeter :

➛ V' = I × R₃

➛ V' = 0.23 × 12

V' = 2.76 volt

Three resistors are connected as shown in the figure.

\Large\bold\blue{To\:Find:}

Reading of ammeter and voltmeter.

\Large\bold\blue{Solution:}

Here all 3 resistances are connected in series hence their equivalent resistance will be

R = R₁ + R₂ + R₃

R = 6 + 8 + 12

R = 26 Ω

Net current flow in the circuit :

As per ohm's law, V = I × R which means current flow in the circuit is directly proportional to the applied potential difference.

V = voltage

I = current

R = resistance

Substituting the given values

6 = I × 26

I = 6/26

I = 0.23 A

∴ Reading of ammeter is 0.23A

Reading of voltmeter

V' = I × R₃

V' = 0.23 × 12
