Answers
Given :
Three resistors are connected as shown in the figure.
To Find :
Reading of ammeter and voltmeter.
Solution :
❖ In order to find reading of ammeter, we need to calculate equivalent resistance of the circuit first.
» Here all three resistances are connected in series hence their equivalent resistance will be
➙ R = R₁ + R₂ + R₃
➙ R = 6 + 8 + 12
➙ R = 26 Ω
Net current flow in the circuit :
As per ohm's law, current flow in the circuit is directly proportional to the applied potential difference
Mathematically, V = I × R
- V denotes voltage
- I denotes current
- R denotes resistance
By substituting the given values;
➙ 6 = I × 26
➙ I = 6/26
➙ I = 0.23 A
∴ Reading of ammeter is 0.23A
❖ Reading of voltmeter :
➛ V' = I × R₃
➛ V' = 0.23 × 12
➛ V' = 2.76 volt
