Answer:

x²-2+1 x²-1

--------- = ------

x²-y² x²-y²

(x-1)(x+1) [because 1 = 1²]

------------

(x-y)(x+y)

by using a²-b²=(a-b)(a+b)

x²-2+1/x² = x²+(1/x)²-(2x/x)

that is in the form of a²+b²-2ab,so it can be written as (a-b)²

=> (x-1/x)²

now x²-2+1/x² -y²

= (x-1/x)² -y²

=> a²-b²=[(a+b)(a-b)]

=> (x-1/x+y)(x-1/x +y)
