Well, Alpha Centauri is a group of three stars. Out of them, the star closest to our solar system is Proxima Centauri.

Dear Alpha Centauri C is the other name of Proxima Centauri. When it was first discovered it was named Alpha Centauri C but later it was changed to Proxima Centauri. i hope you got it
