Importance of Elderly People In Our Life
By Shivani
The elderly people are our roots that support us at the base underground; though they are hidden underground, our existence without them is impossible. As there can be no present without the past, similarly, the young cannot have their being without the elderly. We forget to comprehend the power of the old that is keeping the world stable. Our very life will come to a standstill without the elderly. 'Old is gold' aptly describes the importance of old people in our life.
It is very unfortunate that in some families, the elderly are not given due respect and treated badly. They are discarded by their own children for petty things in life. Such lonely elderly people have to take shelter in old age homes. We must not forget that homes cease to be sweet homes without the elderly.
The elderly people have all the valuable experience and wisdom with them. We must use it to make our life better. Besides, the kind of unconditional love we get from them, no other person or being can give us that type of love. We must hold on to the elderly people in our families and stay in the light of their love and wisdom. We need the elderly and the elderly need us!
Elder people deserve better
According to a recent study, the number of people in care taking centers and old age homes has increased by 30% since last year. There are many external causes for this but the primary reason is their families. Importance should be given to the elders of the family as they are responsible for the current position of their family. They sacrifice themselves for the happiness of their family and children.
The major cause of this behavior is rapid urbanization and lack of time. But, the families or the children should understand that they almost completed their life suffering and fighting for happiness of them. Now is the time to get them relaxed and give love to them. The priceless happiness on the elder peoples face is the most beautiful thing. Most families and children feel they cannot enjoy their life and they are restricted by the elderly. They should understand the reason behind their success. The elders need their families in case of a medical emergency. Old age homes cannot provide them the strength and pay for their medical expenses.
They need care and affection. Not to be disgusted and hated. The families should understand the feelings of the elders and try to make them happy and loved. Not admitting them in an old age home. Love and respect them for all they have done. They deserve it.
