Respiration is a continous process. What is the need for it to be continuous rather than being like photosynthesis?

Respiration needs to be continuous because the body needs energy.....everytime you move your body requires energy.... therefore respiration needs to be continuous and whereas in plants.... they do not need to move.....therefore they prepare their food.. through photosynthesis
