Respiration is a burning process of food in body to produce energy. Respiration is considered as an exothermic reaction because, in respiration process, oxidation of glucose takes place which produces a large amount of heat energy which stored in the form of ATP. This is shown in following chemical equation

C6H12O6 ( glucose ) + 6O2 → 6CO2 + 6H2O + Energy In the form of ATP ( Adenosine Tri Phosphate )
