Respiratory pathway involves both anabolism and catabolism

Fatty acids are broken down to acetyl-CoA before entering the respiratory pathway. here it is used as substrate. But when organism needs synthesise fatty acids, acetyl CoA is withdrawn from the respiratory pathway for the synthesis of fatty acids
as there is synthesis and breakdown of fatty acids it is called as amphibolic pathway
