The storyline is unique and makes greek mythology interesting for students.
Lastly even when the characters were in dire straits, there was always a comedic element in play.

The first book in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series is the Lightning Thief. Its really interesting. It is about the first quest of Percy Jackson with Annabeth (the daughter of Athena) and Grover(The satyr), to find the lost lightning bolt of Zeus.
