Ramal walks 9 hours.

One day = 24 hours.

So, Ramal walks = 24 - 9

=> 15 hrs. in a day

Given that he travels a certain distance in 40 days.

So, total time he walked = 15 × 40 = 600 hrs.

We don't have given his speed, that with what speed he is walking.

Let us assume that he is walking with speed of 1 km/hr.

Now,

Speed = 1 km/hr.

Time = 600 hrs.

Speed = Distance/Time

Distance = Speed × Time

Substitute the known values in above formula

=> Distance = 1 × 600

=> Distance = 600 km

According to question, we have to find that how many days will he take to travel double the distance at double the speed.

Now,

Double of the distance = 600 × 2

=> 1200 km

Double the speed = 1 × 2

=> 2 km/hr.

If distance and speed is doubled then the rest is also doubled.

So, rest = 9 × 2 = 18 hrs.

Now, Ramal walks = 24 - 18 = 6 hrs. a day

Distance travelled by Ramal in one day = Speed × Time

=> 2 × 6

=> 12 km

Now,

Total number of days = Double of the distance/Distance travelled in one day

Substitute the known values in above formula

=> Total number of days = 1200/12

=> Total number of days = 100 days

24-9 = 15hr

15×40=600

24-16=6

600÷6= 100days
