x = 1/2

putting x = 1/2 in p(x), we get

 {( \frac{1}{2} )}^{3}  - 6 {( \frac{1}{2}) }^{2}  + 14 \times  \frac{1}{2}  - 3 =  \\  \frac{1}{8}  - 6 \times  \frac{1}{4}  + 7 - 3 =  \\  \frac{1 - 12 + 32}{8}  =  \\  \frac{19}{8}
