Top reviews from India I love reading folklores and ancient myths. 'Legends of the Lepchas' is a fairly good book if you're interested in Sikkim and its cultures. The illustrations add to the picturesque nature of the short stories, all in all, a good book for a bedtime or a journey read.

A brief background, the Lepchas are an ethnic group, meaning Children of God, and at present inhabit the state of Sikkim and Darjeeling in West Bengal in India and some regions of Nepal and Bhutan.
This was a delightful little collection of the legends and folklore the Lepchas believe in. The stories are beautiful and mention a world when everyone (animals, man and God) is dependent on each other and life has a beautiful balance. The beautiful illustrations inside each story by Pankaj Thapa made reading the book an even beautiful experience. I love reading about different cultures and since this was completely new to me, I devoured it. The stories are engaging and enjoyable.
Overall this is a beautiful book to start exploring about Sikkim and her beautiful culture.
