Answer:

Polygons are 2-dimenshional figures which has more than 3 sides and has to be enclosed. For example a square is a polygon which has 4 sides and the 4 sides are joined but if they weren't then we wouldn't be able to call it a polygon. And you might ask why isn't a circle a polygon or why is oval not a polygon. It is because those shapes dont have sides, they are curved. Also we cant call a 3-d shape a polygon either, for example cube is not a polygon although it has sides

Triangle

Octogon

Sectagon

Square
