First stanza of poem :

In the first year of him that first

Was Emperor and King,

A rider came to the Rose-red House,

The House of Pertab Singh

Ans : The first stanza states that, The first year of the sir pertab singh. The rider came in the house of pertab singh. who is the emperor and king.

Second stanza states that, young he was and he is englishman, and he is a soldier.

as the steel strikes on steel, He struck fire in Pertab's heart.

Third stanza states that, their blood sang to them as they rode, beneath the evening sun and morning stars they rode.

last stanza says that, as the morning came all his dreams shut down like narrow lid.
