What are possessive pronouns and their use?

• A possessive pronoun is a pronoun that represents possessiveness and shows possession of the person over something.
• For example, When we say - "That girl is a friend of mine". The pronoun mine here shows possession of something that is related and belongs to you.
• Similar to this, we add possessive pronouns to the sentences, in the first one the cat is someone's belonging so we address it by the possessive pronoun 'your'.
• In the 2nd one, the coat is of the narrator, so he can use 'my' as the pronoun while addressing the warmth of the coat.
• The 3rd example shows the possession that is shared between the boy and dad, thus 'our' is added.
• Then in the 4th one, the books are the girls belonging and hence addresses in the third person pronoun 'her'.
• Lastly, the pronoun you is already there, that is why 'your' will be the possessive pronoun before 'clothes'.
