Viviparous: like we are all aware, it is a condition that, germination of seeds or seedlings, before senescence or detachment from parental plant. In general, it is very frequent and common phenomenon in Mangroves, because of their habitat and ecological demands.
Even, some non-mangroves also show Viviparous type of seed germination (true or pseudo), i.e. Papaya, Mango, Jack fruit, etc.
In the same way, some mangrove plants also have Non- viviparous nature, i. e. Lumnitzera racemosa(Jack.) Voigt., Heritiera littoralis (Drgand.) Ait., Excoecaria agallocha L. and Acanthus ilicifolius L.
