The test tube A with a piece of potato will be coloured blue black when iodine solution is put onto it. This is because a freshly cut potato piece contains starch. On the other hand the chewed potato in test tube B will make iodine solution become yellow orange as the starch has started to be broken down into maltose by the amylase enzyme in the saliva.
